Launching Ahi Mahi Sauna into the Digital World

Ahi Mahi Sauna is a beautiful new, wood-fired sauna experience set by the Maitai in Nelson – and I had the joy of helping them make their official online launch.

  • Because Ahi Mahi is so deeply connected to place, we started by solidifying the brand colours using tones inspired directly by the Maitai – river, bush, stone, and fire. From there, we chose fonts that felt grounded, calm, and premium, so the whole visual identity reflected nature-based wellness rather than a generic “spa” look.

  • Once the brand feel was locked in, I designed and launched their website. The key goals were:

    • Make it very easy to book spots

    • Keep the functionality clean and intuitive

    • Let the branding and visuals shine through

    • Ensure it felt seamless, professional, and trustworthy

    The result is a simple, aesthetic, user-friendly site where people can quickly understand the experience, view session options, and book without friction.

  • To support the launch, we also:

    • Opened and set up social media profiles to start building community and share the story behind Ahi Mahi Sauna

    • Created and optimised their Google Business Profile so locals and visitors can easily find them when searching for saunas, wellness, or things to do in Nelson

  • I also created video content and social media content – including launch posts and short-form video – to show off the sauna, the river setting, and the full hot–cold experience. This content helped people feel the vibe before ever stepping on-site and has been key in driving early awareness and bookings.

  • Ahi Mahi Sauna has gone from concept to a fully fledged, bookable experience with a digital presence that matches the quality of the real-life offering. This project has been all about grounding the brand in the Maitai, telling the story clearly, and making it ridiculously easy for people to discover, trust, and book their first session – and now, the momentum is building.

Overall, this project has been about turning Ahi Mahi Sauna from a beautiful idea by the river into a fully booked, fully believable brand experience online. With clear branding, a seamless booking-focused website, social and video content that captures the vibe, and strong Google visibility, Ahi Mahi now has the digital backbone to match the magic of the real thing – and we’re only just getting warmed up.
